Add Wireless Charging To Your Galaxy S5 For Just $10, But With A Big Catch

Ok lets put it straight to the point. We all know that the Samsung Galaxy S5 does not come with wireless charging feature out of the box. While that is surely a sad thing, but here’s the big question. Are you willing to risk the water resistance and take be okay with the bulge that you’ll after you add that Qi wireless charging coil?

These are basically just thin Qi coils that sit between your battery and the back cover. So you just cannot go head hunting all over the place. And the answer is for just a few dollars, which does not make a big deal out of it.

But here’s another catch. Once you add that Qi coil, you will obviously get a little bulge along with the increased pressure on the back cover of your phone. And that pressure is something that you should be worried about because you will not just be putting extra energy while removing that cover, you will also be putting extra stress on the IP67 water resistance rating.

And since this Qi wireless charging coil is unofficial, when asked Samsung about using it, they simply denied. They recommended us to use the official Wireless charging cover if that’s what we really wanted.

So the choice is yours. Whether you are willing to put pressure, and probably damage your $700 phone. If you ask me, I will definitely recommend against using that mere $10 accessory to make it as a solution. I know that it might sound something like an Apple guy who is willing to spend more money for the same solution, but we are talking the security and durability of our device.

At the end of the day, the choice depends on you.
